I tried posting this in the Spoiler forum but received an error for some reason. The post doesn't contain any huge spoilers anyways, but you mods have my consent to move it if necessary.

Earlier this evening I encountered the rather infamous bug in the Sand People mission on Tatooine.

Even if all your party members (excluding Droids) are wearing Sand People Clothes when they enter the Sand People Territory, your party is still ambushed by Sand People, and targeted as hostile by both the Laser Cannons and the Sand People in front of the Sand People Enclave.

Unfortunately, the Laser Cannons are, as far as I have seen, indestructible, and your party is automatically killed by them if you wander too close to the Enclave gates. I don’t know if this is just because my party was too weak, but at level 10 my characters had absolutely zero chance of either scratching the cannons or making it inside the Enclave alive. This bug essentially stopped all progress in the game for me.

….This bug leads to anger, anger leads to hate...hate leads to SUFFERING!

So after several hours of tearing my hair out I came here in search of answers. I found several threads concerning the bug and came across many suggestions on how to get around it. Some people said that only the Sand People Clothes dropped from certain Sand People would work. Others said you have to talk to the Jawa, Iziz, at the gates of the city before you leave for the Sand People Enclave.

Finally, I did find a solution that worked flawlessly for me.

The exact steps I went through were as follows:

1. Ensure party members are not dressed in Sand People Clothes
2. Kill all the Sand People standing outside the entrance to the Sand People Terroritory in the area south of the city.
3. Choose “Return to Ebon Hawk” from the Map menu
4. Once at the Ebon Hawk, choose “Transit Back” from the map menu
5. Enter the Sand People Territory
6. Once in the Sand People Territory, dress all of your non-droid party members in Sand People Clothes
7. Proceed as normally to the Sand People Enclave

If you do all of this and everything works as it did for me, you won’t meet any resistance from the Sand People or Laser Cannons outside the Enclave, unless, of course, you attack them. Problem solved.

I hope this helps.

Isn't it nifty?

Heh, yeah, I guess people should know how to access that once they're that far in the game. I can get over detailed sometimes. >_<

Thanks dude, awesome.

Yeah, i love Transit Back.

It reminds me of the Mark-Recall spells from Morrowind, except for the Transit Back part. It's like Mark-Recall-Recall. kickass.

I found equipping my chars with gaffi sticks as well as sand people robes allowed me to procede unseen and enter enclave with no problem. With just the robes I could enter the Sand people Territory but was ambushed until I equppped gaffi's.

Interesting...I tried that very thing (equipping my party with Gaffi sticks and Sand People clothes) but the Sand People were still marked as hostile. To each his own, I guess.

Do you mean to kill the wandering sand people in the immediate area in front of the city, or the ones guarding the sandpeople path?

I can make it inside the city with all living party members, equipped with robes and gafi sticks, but once I get inside, the guard starts freaking out and I can't translate what he says. If I try to sneak in with a droid, they automatically go hostile on me. I also tried warping to the ebon hawk once I'm right in front of the gates, then warping back with a droid, and once I enter the city there's no dialogue, they just automatically attack. I was getting pretty frustrated there for a while.

I'll try what you said though, thanks.

I would like to chime in here with my solution to the problem which seemed to work. I tried it 2 times through from 2 different save points and it worked both times.

I looked through my inventory and saw that i was carrying a couple gaffi sticks. I Found a corpse lying in the desert and I pressed (X) to give the corpse items, I then gave the gaffi sticks to the corpse and proceeded on and from that point forward had no problems with the Turrets.

Hope this helps.

I was referring to the ones guarding the Sand People path, not the ones who ambush you or attack the sand crawler.

Aye, it definitely doesn't happen to everyone. I don't know exactly what causes it, but many people who've experienced the bug, including myself, seem to have visited the Sand People Enclave without HK-47 and then chosen to "Make a hasty retreat" instead of killing everything.

Ironically, after I finally made it passed the bug I ended up slaughtering the poor Tuskens anyways . When HK-47 asked "Shall I blast him now, master?" while translating for the Tusken chief, it was just too tempting. Damn that droid...he's going to lead me to the dark side.

Edit: Err...that is, if you were referring to the bug.
