Here are the patch notes for the upcoming 1.01 patch. Please keep in mind that development on this patch was locked on November 25th and it was sent for testing. This means any issue that was fixed after November 25th will not be in this patch.
If all goes well, we plan on having this patch available within the next 7 days.
If you used the beta patch, you MUST revert back to the 1.00 retail version of the game before updating. Check the beta patch thread for more info.
--------------------------------
Star Wars(R): Knights of the Old Republic(TM) v1.01
Here are the changes in this update: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - Added two new "swkotor.ini" sound options, [Sound Options] Environment Effects Nonstreaming=1 Environment Effects Streaming=1 The Environment Effects Streaming=0 option was added to fix a problem with sound pauses while playing the game with an Intel i845 or i850 chipset motherboard and a 100 MHz Front Side Bus.
- removed the awareness penalty when running
- Made a fix to the "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects" option in "swkotor.ini". [Graphics Options] Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 If you are having some odd, random graphics issues you may be able to resolve them by adding an entry to your "swkotor.ini" file:
- Made a fix to the Enable Hardware Mouse option when it is disabled. This fixes a crash with certain ATI Radeon 9600 video cards.
- Made a fix to a display issue with Small Fonts.
- Made a fix to a gamma issue after movies finish playing.
- Removed the display of Force Points on portrait tooltips for non-Jedi characters.
- Fixed bug where some objects in the game would give a sticky mouse indicator like they had an inventory when they did not.
- Fixed an issue where if you changed appearance while Force Speed was active your movement rate would return to normal.
- Fixed an issue with droid animation when the item they were using ran out or their target died.
- The turret mini-game should no longer have the blur visual effect if you enter it with that visual effect turned on.
- The Security option no longer displays for doors which a key is required.
- Fixed a rare bug where the game could get stuck if an autopause was triggered at the exact same time as an area transition.
- Fixed a rare crash that could happen when a Dark Jedi dies at the exact same time as he deflected a blaster bolt.
- Fixed a rare crash on startup under Windows 98.
- Fixed a few memory leaks.

Im not sure if I should be happy, appriciative, or plain and down right angry
I'm not going to be like some of the people in this forum who blast one minute, then suck up the next when they get there way.....Great! a patch is FINALLY coming! That don't excuse the poor Customer Relations that has happened on this forum.
I tried to be patient, understanding, and silent,... that simple wont do anymore! While I have nothing but respect for Bioware, the games you have made, and the enjoyment you have brought to me for years...This has been a complete blunder!
I have had this bug ridden game for 2 weeks, and you guys never kept us up to date....Now we get to wait another week or more.....
In the future, keep your customers informed! If you would have said 2 weeks ago..."We will attempt to have a patch out in x ammount of time....please be patient...or where working on a solution, please stay tuned to this boards for further dtails" I would have been fine with that....But this has been handled badly. It's clear LucasArts was pulling the strings, and Bioware got left holding the bag.
In the future, you may wish to think twice before producing another game for LucasArts...I won't buy it, thats for sure. As for anyone that got angry by my post, TOUGH! Im a consumer, I have a right to be angry! You don't like it, don't read the post! _________________ I stand here now as I have before, and as I always will, ready to do what must be doneEdited By Magnus Baelwyn on 12/02/03 21:06 |

If you are talking about lag spikes where the character seems to stop in place then run a long distance almost instantly, that is related to the intel chipset and 100mhz FSB issue.
There is a much more robust fix in the official patch that we are hoping will take care of all cases of this (where the beta did not). _________________ Dave McGruther Systems Administrator BioWare Corp.

Great! This should be a great patch, thanks for the hard work.
I understand that those issues mentioned are what will be in this and any other suggestions will have to come later, but I thought since this is an official patch thread we might as well make them?
Maybe in the next patch the glitch with the Griff sidequest would be fixed? And the glitch about using security spikes? |

right on. That seems to be the only real problem i'm having right now, the only way i can get around it is to disable sound, it'll be nice to actually play in these areas with the sound turned on..heheh |

So I'm somewhat confused.
Does this mean users with a Radeon 9600 card can use the hardware mouse, or will we have to keep it turned off to make the game not crash. Cause even with the .ini changes the game still runs with very bad frame rate while the cursor is on screen. _________________ I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.Edited By Grodum on 12/02/03 21:46 |

Great
Is there any chance you guys can squeeze in a fix for the problem where the Mantle of the Force lightsaber is always extended when you move to new area?
I obviously have no clue how detailed that fix would be, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be that big a bug to fix. |

Radeon 9600 users should be able to use hardware mouse as well. If they still have issues, turning hardware mouse off will not cause the framerate to drop after about 15 mins. like sometimes happens with the beta patch. _________________ Dave McGruther Systems Administrator BioWare Corp.

No, as any changes to the patch at this point would require the testing phase to start again. _________________ Dave McGruther Systems Administrator BioWare Corp.

So should the lag be totally eliminated on the 9600 cards? I mean shouldn't the 9600 128 MB cards handle max graphics? |

Dave, I didn't see anything listed about the SecuRom GPF issues. I know there is a fix for it, because LucasArts emailed me a file that works fine (still seems to have SecuRom turned on too, because it won't boot if CD is not in drive)
Do you know if that fix is going to be in?
Thanks, Scott |

Do we need to uninstall the beta patch to get this one to work? And if so, how do we do that? |
